Trump Attorney Vows To Take Appeal To Supreme Court

A leading attorney for former President Donald Trump said that his legal team was prepared to go to the Supreme Court to try to overturn the former president’s criminal conviction by a New York jury last week. The comments came as Trump himself vowed to fight what he called a “rigged” decision last week.

Attorney Will Scharf said in a media interview this weekend that he “vehemently disagree[d] that the District Attorney in New York was not politically motivated here, and I vehemently disagree that President Biden and his political allies aren’t up to their necks in this prosecution.”

Scharf cited the transfer of former Biden administration Department of Justice official Matthew Colangelo to work with the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D).

“I completely disagree that this has nothing to do with President [Joe] Biden,” said the attorney. “I don’t think President Trump is going to end up being subject to any sentence whatsoever, and we look forward to getting this case into the next court and taking this again all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary to vindicate President Trump’s rights.”

The former president made similar comments during a press event last Friday following the verdict’s announcement. The former president accused the Biden administration of coordinating his legal troubles and called New York Judge Juan Merchan “conflicted.”

The former president also argued that the case against him was irrelevant, stating that many people in business used non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). He also argued that the charges stemmed from an incorrect classification of alleged payments to former adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

Trump denies having a brief relationship with Daniels.

The former president also said that he would appeal the decision. He also called the Nov. 5 election the most important day in American history.

“This was a rigged decision right from day one, with a conflicted judge who should have never been allowed to try this case, never,” said Trump.

“We’re a nation in decline, serious decline,” Trump added. “Millions and millions of people pouring into our country right now from prisons and from mental institutions, terrorists and they’re taking over our country. We have a country that’s in big trouble.”
