Iowa Senator Rallies Together DEMS to Call for Biden’s RESIGNATION

Iowa Senator Calls for BIDEN’S RESIGNATION

After his heavily criticized debate performance, former Iowa senator Tom Harkin—who spent more than 20 years in Congress with President Biden—is urging Democrats to put pressure on the president to withdraw from the 2024 contest.

Following the debate, Harkin said at Julie Gammack’s Iowa Potluck that voters believe Trump is the one most “able to take command of a situation and control the outcome.”

“Of course, Trump’s answers were meandering, gobbledygook, and full of lies, BUT they were said with force and directness,” Harkin, who is 84 years old, added.

“I also think all incumbent Democratic Senators should write to Biden asking him to release his delegates and step aside so the convention can choose a new candidate,” Harkin said. “A couple of governors may need to do the same.”

“Last night was a disaster from which Biden cannot recover,” Harkin said.

With regard to the president, the Iowa Democrat said that Biden “has gone downhill since his State of the Union speech.”

“Look how he walked and handled himself on the House floor even after the speech, and watch how he walks and uses his arms now,” Harkin said. “Startling!”

Harkin’s remarks follow Biden’s performance in Thursday’s CNN presidential debate, which prompted demands from Democratic Party insiders for Biden to withdraw from the contest due to age concerns right away.

Democrats who have backed President Biden include House Majority Whip James Clyburn and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who blamed his lackluster performance on “preparation overload.” But rather than providing a solution, this argument highlights mounting doubts about Biden’s ability to lead and manage the demanding responsibilities of the president.

As a fervent GOP supporter, it is evident that the Democrats’ effort to defend Biden by pointing the finger to “preparation overload” is a flimsy justification. The fundamental concerns raised by this story are not addressed: Biden’s repeated mistakes, his incapacity to explain clear policy stances, and his clear cognitive deterioration. The American people should not elect a president who falters under duress but rather one who can function well under duress and lead with clarity and conviction.

The response offered by Pelosi and Clyburn sheds insight on the internal conflicts that the Democratic Party is facing as it attempts to stay together and back a president whose popularity is steadily declining.

It also exposes a larger problem in the party, which is the unwillingness to recognize and deal with Biden’s obvious leadership shortcomings. The Democrats need to be concentrating on finding answers and holding their leaders responsible rather than coming up with excuses.
