Trump ally warns NY Attorney General against legal attacks

After New York Attorney General Letitia James declared her intention to continue pursuing legal action against President Trump following his electoral victory, Article III Project Founder Mike Davis issued a forceful response.

Mike Davis stated: “I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump in his second term. Listen here, sweetheart. We’re not messing around this time, and we will put your fat ass in prison for conspiracy against rights. I promise you that.” He further warned, “James should think long and hard before violating any more of Trump’s constitutional rights or any other Americans’ constitutional rights. It’s not going to happen again.”

While media outlets speculated about Davis’s potential role as Trump’s Attorney General, despite his disavowal of seeking office, his confrontational stance toward politically motivated prosecutions resonates with many critics of the current legal landscape.

The mounting legal challenges against Trump orchestrated by James, Alvin Bragg, Jack Smith, and Fani Willis represent significant threats to constitutional protections. These prosecutions have targeted various individuals, from political figures to healthcare professionals and activists, based on their associations, beliefs, and speech.

The prosecution of Trump’s legal team, including Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, undermines fundamental legal principles like attorney-client privilege. Their actions jeopardize both Fifth Amendment protections against self-incrimination and Sixth Amendment rights to legal representation.

Letitia James’s civil case against Trump stands out for its lack of identifiable victims, with even involved banks confirming their satisfaction with their dealings. During her 2018 campaign, James stated, “We need to follow his money,” and later boasted about being “a real pain in the ass” to Trump, declaring, “Oh, we’re going to definitely sue him. He’s going to know my name personally.”

These public statements potentially violated professional conduct standards and compromised Trump’s right to a fair trial. Davis’s suggestion to investigate James under conspiracy against rights statutes warrants consideration, as does the broader need for legislation preventing politically motivated prosecutions.

The systematic use of legal institutions for political purposes poses a significant threat to constitutional democracy and requires immediate attention to prevent further erosion of fundamental rights.
