Ukraine leader criticized for lack of gratitude
Listen To Story Above
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy faced harsh criticism over gratitude concerns, marking this as not the first time a U.S. leader has addressed such issues with him.
A similar incident occurred in June 2022 when then-President Joe Biden expressed frustration during a phone call with the Ukrainian leader. According to an NBC News report from October 31, 2022, the exchange became heated after Biden announced $1 billion in military assistance.
“Biden had barely finished telling Zelenskyy he’d just greenlighted another $1 billion in U.S. military assistance for Ukraine when Zelenskyy started listing all the additional help he needed and wasn’t getting,” NBC reported. “Biden lost his temper, the people familiar with the call said.
Don't be gaslit. Zelensky broke protocol and decided to debate VP Vance on President Trump's diplomatic worldview. That's how this started.
He was out of line and disrespectful. Trump and Vance did exactly what needed to be done. Bravo indeed!

“The American people were being quite generous, and his administration and the U.S. military were working hard to help Ukraine, he said, raising his voice, and Zelenskyy could show a little more gratitude.”
The latest confrontation unfolded in the Oval Office when Zelenskyy challenged Vice President J.D. Vance’s stance on Russian diplomacy. The exchange escalated when President Donald Trump interpreted Zelenskyy’s remarks as resistance to pursuing peace through a ceasefire.
During the tense meeting, Vance directly questioned Zelenskyy’s gratitude, asking if he had ever expressed thanks. Though Zelenskyy insisted he regularly shows appreciation, Vance noted his failure to do so during their current meeting.

“You have to be thankful,” Trump stated firmly.
The meeting concluded abruptly when Trump terminated discussions and canceled plans for a proposed mineral agreement with Ukraine. The deal, which would have provided implicit security through American presence in Ukraine, fell through when Zelenskyy insisted on explicit security guarantees.
While sources indicate Zelenskyy maintains interest in pursuing the mineral agreement, the strained relationship with Trump has effectively suspended any progress on the matter for the time being.
