Wife scolds husband during awkward TV interview
Listen To Story Above
A tense moment unfolded at Planet Hollywood Times Square’s reopening event in New York City when Hilaria Baldwin publicly chastised her husband Alec Baldwin during an interview promoting their new reality series, *The Baldwins*.
The awkward exchange began when the interviewer inquired about a potential second season. Alec attempted to inject humor by suggesting it should be renamed *The Hilaria Show*, but his joke fell flat with his wife.
> **Reporter:** We want more of this. Season 2—do we know anything?
> **Alec Baldwin:** The Hilaria show.
> **Hilaria Baldwin:** No. I think we’re going to see. We’re going to see how it feels to have it be out there.
> **Alec Baldwin:** It’s going to be great. You’re a winner.
> **Hilaria Baldwin:** Oh my God. When I’m talking, you’re not talking.
> **Alec Baldwin:** I’m sorry.
> **Hilaria Baldwin:** No, when I’m talking, you’re not talking. This is why—yes, we’ll have to just cut him out of the show. I think this is a really raw show, and it’s very real, and we took a lot of chances. I think that we’ll see where it leads us. We’ll see what it feels like to have it be out there, and then we’ll see if people like it. That’s another thing too.
Hilaria Baldwin emasculates her husband in public. A HUGE rule of mine, always be each other biggest fan in public. I know it’s Alec, making a point here. pic.twitter.com/iFzEJ9F3Un

Following the reprimand, Alec momentarily stepped away from the interview before returning to continue the conversation. His subsequent attempts to compliment his wife’s appearance did little to improve the situation.
The interview took another uncomfortable turn when the reporter shifted focus to discussing parenthood and reality television.
> **Reporter:** You’ve spent your career in Hollywood, but I have to know—because we are loving the show, by the way, and loving getting to know your family—is it harder to memorize scripts or be yourself on unscripted television?
> **Alec Baldwin:** Oh, it’s so hard. It’s so hard.
> **Reporter:** What makes it so hard?
> **Alec Baldwin:** It’s a good question. I think it’s because you don’t want it to be dull. If you showed the way our life really is, you’d get it after an hour—it’s the same thing a lot. Not just the two of us in our life, but with the kids. We like routine. It’s good for the kids to have a routine. She, as a mother, is very good at keeping them on a routine. But you feel the desire to make it more silly than it might be.
The tension escalated further when Alec continued to interject during Hilaria’s responses, leading to more friction between the couple.
I’m no Alec Baldwin fan, but this clip is shocking. On the red carpet, he’s building Hilaria up, saying “It’s gonna be great, you’re a winner,” and she snaps back aggressively: “No talking while I’m talking!” TWICE.

> **Hilaria Baldwin:** I have to say that every… I don’t think you make it more silly than it is. I actually feel…
> **Alec Baldwin:** I’ve tried. Oh, you didn’t get that on the show?
> **Hilaria Baldwin:** No. We just cut all that part out.
> **Alec Baldwin:** Cut me out.
> **Hilaria Baldwin:** When you’re trying to make it silly, we cut it. No, I think that every day, because we like routine, and I think anybody who’s a parent knows that routine is king. Or queen. Routine is key. We’ll just say king and queen at the same time. It’s essential. But I think that us trying to… every day…
> **Alec Baldwin:** What’s the word for “essential” in Spanish?
> **Hilaria Baldwin:** Essential… Oh my God. You’re distracting me right now.
> **Alec Baldwin:** Sorry.
> **Hilaria Baldwin:** Now you’re just doing that. Why are you distracting me?
> **Alec Baldwin:** I’m just captivated by your beauty. You’re so beautiful.
> **Hilaria Baldwin:** Yeah, you’re just distracting me.
> **Alec Baldwin:** It’s so beautiful.
> **Hilaria Baldwin:** Oh my God, stop. You’re annoying me. Stop. It’s not cute. He’s distracting me. I’m going to walk out of this interview.
> **Reporter:** I need the motherhood notes.
> **Hilaria Baldwin:** No. Okay, go back. Let me go back. It’s all about routine. It’s all about routine. Every day, we strive to be boring, and then unboring things happen to us, as they do with seven children.
