Father kills family of five before shooting himself

Police are investigating what appears to be a tragic murder-suicide after five family members were discovered deceased in their West Valley City, Utah residence.
The incident, which came to light on Tuesday, involved the deaths of both parents and three children from gunshot wounds. Additionally, a 17-year-old member of the family was discovered in the garage with severe head injuries from a gunshot and remains in critical condition.

Initial reports from law enforcement were cautious about specifying the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the teenager’s injuries. However, the investigation took a significant turn when officers located a firearm beneath the father’s body, leading investigators to develop a clearer picture of the events.
Police spokesperson Roxeanne Vainuku stated, “That is our initial determination, is that the father likely shot all of the members of the family and then himself.”
