Migrants Attack Officers Crossing Border

A group of migrants attacked law enforcement officers along the southern border attempting to cross into the United States. The incident at El Paso highlighted the significant increase in attempted crossings by illegal immigrants since the start of the Biden administration and the ongoing dispute between the White House and the state of Texas.

Video from the southern border showed a riotous scene where migrants attacked members of the Texas National Guard. The mob bypassed the soldiers and made it through the barbed wire along the border, then onto another checkpoint guarded by soldiers.

The scene highlighted ongoing concerns about the southern border. The efforts by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and the state legislature have led to multiple legal disputes with the White House.

Furthermore, Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) said that the country was “being invaded. And, [President] Joe Biden is doing nothing to stop it.

The disruptive scene near the border also saw significant concerns over further violence. Several of the migrants were discovered to have knives. At least one migrant was caught attempting to seize a rifle from a soldier’s arms.

Law enforcement is reviewing video from the incident to determine exactly what happened and what to charge suspects with.

Texas launched a statewide effort to reduce the flow of illegal immigrants across the southern border. The resulting Operation Lone Star has significantly reduced the number of migrants attempting into Texas and has resulted in increased efforts by illegal immigrants to enter Arizona and California.

The operation has led to more than 41,000 arrests of migrants by Texas military and law enforcement personnel.

The state also passed a law making illegal entry into Texas a state crime, which is currently being reviewed by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals after a stay by the U.S. Supreme Court.

“We will continue to build the border wall, use NG to erect razor wire to repel migrants & keep buoy barriers in the river,” said Abbott. The state is also battling the Biden administration over this effort, as well.
