Former Prosecutor Calls For Investigation Into Willis

vA former federal prosecutor called for an investigation into Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis. Willis has come under considerable scrutiny after word of an alleged affair with another prosecuting attorney went public.

Former prosecutor Andrew Cherkasky told Fox News that the recent revelations were like either a “soap opera” or a “John Grisham legal thriller.”

The former prosecutor said that the “cards seem to be falling for Fani Willis.”

He added his opinion that there should be an investigation into whether or not Willis met with Biden White House officials amid the prosecution of Trump over the aftermath of the 2020 election.

He questioned whether or not Willis’ conduct with fellow prosecutor and alleged lover nathan Wade could be “essentially kickbacks.”

Cherkasky said that Willis brought in “somebody unqualified for the job, and it seems as though he’s giving her these elaborate trips, these elaborate vacations. That’s something that we know as honest services fraud.”

Willis appointed Wade to a number of prominent posts without disclosing their relationship, including several stints as special prosecutor. The district attorney’s detractors also accused her of paying Wade a higher hourly wage than other attorneys in the Trump case.

In addition, Wade is alleged to have taken Willis on a number of trips, including one to California.

The information was released as part of Wade’s divorce proceedings.

The affair and its implications could also have major effects on the prosecution of the former president. Republicans in Georgia are also calling for an investigation into her conduct.

One Georgia state legislator introduced articles of impeachment against Willis.

State Rep. Charlice Byrd (R-GA) introduced the measure last week, which accuses the district attorney of acts of “malfeasance, tyrannical partiality and oppression.”

“Willis also has come under scrutiny for possible conflict of interest in hiring a potential paramour in the case against Trump. In addition, a judge barred Willis from investigating Lt. Gov. Burt Jones when he was campaigning for lieutenant governor as she was a financial supporter of his opponent,” wrote Byrd.

The state House of Representatives passed a measure increasing prosecutor oversight after the revelations.
