Bannon Warns Trump Will Be Sentenced To Prison

Former adviser to former President Donald Trump Steve Bannon said this week that the former president should expect to be sentenced to prison as a result of his guilty verdict in the New York criminal case against him. The comments came as Bannon himself will likely report to prison on July 1, pending an appeal.

Bannon told members of Turning Point USA in Detroit, Michigan that the former president should expect to be sentenced to prison. He accused Democrats of manipulating the legal system, accusing courts of targeting Trump.

He said that during the July 11 sentencing, New York Judge Juan Merchan would “sentence him for multiple years in prison. You understand that, right?”

“You understand what they’re doing in New York. And then they’re going to limit, they’re going to limit how he can travel,” Bannon said.

The former adviser said that the prosecution was an example of election interference.

“They can’t have MAGA rule the country. They don’t care about this election. They don’t care how many votes we get,” he said.

“They’re going to fight us every step of the way,” Bannon added.

The former presidential adviser has been ordered to prison by a federal court following being found in contempt of Congress. Bannon did not testify before the House Jan. 6 Committee after being subpoenaed.

Bannon denies any wrongdoing. He said that prison would not silence him.

The former adviser lost a previous appeal against the sentence. He claimed executive privilege, citing a recommendation from Trump not to testify.

Bannon told former Fox News host Tucker Carlson that he was not afraid of reporting to prison.

“I spent almost four years on a Navy Destroyer,” said Bannon. He said that he would “serve my country” in prison. He said that he would be a political prisoner.

Bannon said that he was prepared to go to the Supreme Court to fight the judgement. He said that he accepts no donations for legal fees.
