Trump Says Gag Order ‘Rigging’ Election

Former President Donald Trump accused Judge Juan Merchan of attempting to rig the 2024 election due to the gag order put in place during his current New York trial. The former president’s comments came as his legal team won a victory in court that allowed him to attend the graduation of his youngest son, Barron.

The former president wrote on social media that the current trial is a “total Witch Hunt.” He said that there were hours of testimony that amounted to “EXONERATION AND LIES.”

“The Trial is going like a speeding bullet, because the Judge is working hard to make all of his friends happy. Merchan is Rigged, Crooked and, above all, and without question, CONFLICTED. It’s a disgrace to our Country — They’ve taken away my Right to Free Speech. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!” he wrote.

He also wrote that he was the “only Presidential Candidate in History to be GAGGED.” “This whole “Trial” is RIGGED, and by taking away my FREEDOM OF SPEECH, THIS HIGHLY CONFLICTED JUDGE IS RIGGING THE PRESIDENTIAL OF 2024 ELECTION. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!” he wrote on Truth Social.

The former president made the comments after the judge ruled that he violated the gag order that prevents Trump from speaking about the witnesses and family of court officials. According to Merchan, Trump violated this order nine times on social media.

As a result, Trump was fined $9,000 for the alleged infraction.

The judge also said that if Trump continued with “willful violations” he could be given jail time as “necessary and appropriate.” Trump removed the social media posts objected to by the judge.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) accused Trump of 14 violations of the gag order.

Trump’s legal team did pick up a win in the case this week as the judge ruled that Trump could attend Barron’s high school graduation on May 17.

Trump wrote that his son was a “great student and he’s very proud of the fact he did so well and was looking forward for years to having his graduation with his mother and father there, and it looks like the judge isn’t going to allow me to escape this scam. It’s a scam trial.”
