Trump Opens Lead In Crucial Districts

Former President Donald Trump opened up a significant lead over President Joe Biden in important congressional districts that could play a major role in November’s race for the White House. The swing district numbers parallel major gains for Trump both nationwide and in a number of important states.

According to a recent Cygnal Poll, the former president increased his lead in districts that could go to either party. Within these districts, the former president has more than a 2% lead over Biden.

Trump brings in 47.2% overall, while Biden trails with 44.8%. This represents a significant shift since November when Trump led these districts overall by 0.6%.

The districts polled were in important states for November, including Arizona, Colorado, Florida, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania and other states.

Even should Biden decide not to receive the Democratic nomination for November, Trump would still lead a generic Democratic candidate by 2.1%.

Trump may also benefit from the candidacy of independent Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. often known as RFK. With RFK included in the poll, Trump would lead Biden by almost 4%. In this scenario, Trump would receive just under 42%, Biden would receive almost 38% and RFK would get 13%.

The swing state poll also includes significant bad news regarding voters’ views of Biden’s time in office. Only 37% of respondents approved of Biden’s time in office, while almost 57% disapproved.

Voters in these districts also said that the border crisis and migrants were major issues, which was followed by inflation.

The former president opened a larger national lead in recent polls. His better results come amid significant concern over the state of the nation’s security and economy and increasing discussion regarding Biden’s age and mental faculties.

Trump now leads Biden by 2.0% in the RealClearPolitics polling average nationally. The former president now leads in five of eight recent polls, including a Grinnell/Selzer poll from this month where he was up by 7%.
