In a dramatic overnight development, Iranian-backed Houthi militants launched a missile toward central Israel early Friday, forcing millions of citizens to seek shelter during the pre-dawn hours, undeterred by Israel’s military response in Yemen just the day before.
Israeli defense systems successfully intercepted the incoming projectile before it could breach Israeli airspace. The IDF released an official statement confirming the incident:

“Following the sirens that sounded in several areas in central Israel, one missile that was launched from Yemen was intercepted before crossing into Israeli territory.
Rocket and missile sirens were sounded following the possibility of falling debris from the interception.”
The sudden emergency response resulted in approximately 20 Israeli civilians sustaining injuries amid the chaos of rushing to bomb shelters in the darkness.
From the beginning of the war, I made it clear that Israel will act against all attackers, which is why we struck Houthi targets in Yemen yesterday in response to the deadly drone attack near the US Consulate in Tel Aviv.

This latest provocation occurred shortly after Israel conducted its most extensive counterstrike yet against Houthi positions, marking their fourth such operation. The Israeli forces targeted critical infrastructure, including port facilities in Hodeida and the main airport in Sana’a, the capital city.
Earlier on Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his determination to eliminate the Houthi threat and dismantle Iran’s proxy network. Military analysts anticipate additional Israeli airstrikes in the immediate future, aimed at degrading the Houthis’ missile capabilities and potentially targeting their leadership structure.
