Trump Makes Major Inroads With Black, Latino Voters

Former President Donald Trump holds a lead over President Joe Biden in a November rematch, according to a recently released Fox News poll. Not only is the former president ahead among all voters, but he has also made significant gains among a number of demographic groups that voted for Biden four years ago.

The Fox News poll showed that Trump would receive 49% of the vote compared to Biden’s 47%.

Furthermore, Trump received significant increases in support from Black and Latino voters. The former president now has the support of 28% of Black voters, compared to just 4% in February 2020. The former president also has majority support among voters under the age of 30, as well as nearly half of Latino voters.

He also carries a large majority of White evangelical Christians and White men with no college degree. Trump also carries 60% of rural voters.

The increase in the former president’s poll numbers came even as he faced a number of civil and criminal cases against him. He also gained support during an ongoing presidential primary season against former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R).

Trump’s gains among non-White voters could have a significant impact on this November’s elections even beyond the raw vote count. The increase of Latino, Black and Muslim support for the former president could be an indication that he will win major swing states, including several that Biden won in 2020.

An increase in Muslim support following the start of the conflict between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas could mean that Trump could carry Michigan, as he did in 2016. Furthermore, increases in Black support could swing states such as Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania into his column.

The former president could also win a number of states that have high populations of Latino voters. Trump narrowly lost Nevada and Arizona in 2020, which he could carry this year. Furthermore, a state with a significant number of Black and Latino voters such as Georgia could land back in his column.

Trump is now leading in most national polls, including some showing him ahead by a large margin.
