Support for Trump surged unexpectedly in the traditionally Democratic stronghold of the Bronx, marking a significant shift from previous voting patterns. While Kamala Harris secured 72.1% of Bronx voters in 2024, Trump’s support jumped to 27.1%, a notable increase from his 15.9% share in 2020, when Biden dominated with 83.4% of the vote.

The New York Post reported that Trump’s performance improved by 22 points across New York state compared to 2020, with even more dramatic gains in the Bronx, historically the most reliably Democratic borough with a predominantly Hispanic voter base.

This shifting political landscape became evident when Newsmax reporter Cara Castronuova conducted voter interviews in the Bronx. Her findings, which revealed surprising levels of Trump support, gained such traction that they caught the attention of Trump himself, who shared them on social media.

The culmination of this growing momentum was a massive rally where Trump addressed 25,000 supporters in the Bronx in June 2024. The event demonstrated his increasing appeal among minority voters, even in traditionally Democratic urban centers.

“I can’t wait to bring our message to other Democrat-run cities that are falling apart like Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, so many other places, but I’ll see you all soon,” President Trump told supporters in his message.

Reflecting on the rally’s success, Trump noted that “even fake news CNN was forced to admit that our crowd size totally shocked them. They were shocked; everybody was shocked, except maybe me and the people that were there.”

The gathering proved to be more than just a show of force – it translated into actual voter support, with Trump ultimately securing 27% of the Bronx vote in 2024. This remarkable increase in support suggests a significant shift in voter sentiment in what has traditionally been considered an impenetrable Democratic stronghold.
