Elon Musk, the tech billionaire, sparked speculation about potentially acquiring MSNBC after Comcast announced plans to restructure and sell several of its network properties, including the progressive news channel.

The conversation began when Donald Trump Jr. playfully suggested the acquisition to Musk on social media.

“Hey @elonmusk I have the funniest idea ever!!!” Trump Jr. wrote.

Musk, whose net worth stands at approximately $315.7 billion, responded by asking, “How much does it cost?”

“The most entertaining outcome, especially if ironic, is most likely,” Musk added, including a laughing emoji.

The potential sale comes amid significant changes at Comcast, where MSNBC has reportedly reduced star anchor Rachel Maddow’s salary from $30 million to $25 million during contract renegotiations.

While Musk’s critics have expressed concerns about his influence on elections through his management of X (formerly Twitter), particularly regarding content moderation policies, the platform has shown resilience. Despite initial advertiser departures due to left-wing pressure, many major brands have since returned to the platform.

“Just want to say that we super appreciate major brands resuming advertising on our platform!” Musk replied.
