Trump explains simple thank you to Justice Roberts
Listen To Story Above
President Trump lashed out at media outlets for speculating about a brief exchange he had with Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts during his congressional address.
Following Trump’s speech on Tuesday evening, he was seen exchanging pleasantries with Roberts, telling him “Thank you again, I won’t forget it.” This simple interaction sparked immediate speculation from various media outlets, particularly MSNBC’s “Deadline,” which suggested the gratitude might be connected to potential court decisions favoring Trump.
Responding to these interpretations, Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday to firmly reject what he viewed as baseless conspiracy theories. He explained that his appreciation was merely for Roberts’ role in his 2017 presidential inauguration ceremony.

“Like most people, I don’t watch Fake News CNN or MSDNC, but I understand they are going ‘crazy’ asking what is it that I was thanking Justice Roberts for?” Trump wrote, employing his characteristic nickname for MSNBC that suggests alignment with the Democratic National Committee.
Trump continued his response, stating, “They never called my office to ask, of course, but if they had I would have told these sleazebag ‘journalists’ that I thanked him for SWEARING ME IN ON INAUGURATION DAY, AND DOING A REALLY GOOD JOB IN SO DOING!!”
🚨 Just In: President Trump tore into “sleazebag journalists” for jumping to “crazy” conspiracies over him greeting and thanking Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

The controversy emerged alongside criticism of MSNBC personalities Nicolle Wallace and Rachel Maddow, who drew attention for their commentary on another moment from Trump’s speech. The hosts discussed Trump’s interaction with Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, a 13-year-old cancer survivor whom Trump honored by making him an honorary Secret Service agent. The young boy, dressed in police attire, proudly displayed his new law enforcement badge to the audience in what was widely regarded as one of the evening’s most touching moments.
