Laken Riley’s Mother Calls Biden SOTU ‘Pathetic’

The mother of slain student Laken Riley called President Joe Biden’s mention of her daughter during the State of the Union address Thursday “pathetic.” Congressional Republicans called for the president to mention the name of the college student murdered by an illegal alien, to which Biden mispronounced Riley’s name.

During the State of the Union, the president appeared to pronounce Riley’s first name as “Lincoln.”

Biden discussed the proposed and failed immigration bill recently withdrawn from Congress. After jeering from some congressional Republicans, the president said “I know you know how to read.”

He then said that he believed that a majority of the House and Senate would pass such a law. Biden accused former President Donald Trump of blocking the bill.

When called to mention Riley’s name by congressional Republicans, he said that Riley was “an innocent young girl” who was “killed by an illegal.”

“Biden does not even KNOW my child’s name – it [sic] pathetic!” Allyson Philips wrote on social media. ‘If you are going to say her name (even when forced to do so) at least say the right name!”

Biden received criticism from some congressional Democrats for describing the alleged killer as an “illegal.” He was asked Friday about his use of the term.

The president responded to the question by saying “Well… uh… technically he’s not supposed to be here.”

The Laken Riley Act passed the House by a large majority this week, with all Republicans voting in favor.

The act criticized the Biden administration’s border policy and requested that he reintroduce Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy. It also would change federal law so that illegal immigrants convicted of theft could be detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It would also allow for state Attorneys General to sue the Homeland Security Secretary for aid in case of policy failures.

The accused murderer, Jose Ibarra, was earlier cited by a local police department for shoplifting prior to the slaying.
