Listen To Story Above
Kelly Clarkson has stepped away from her talk show duties due to a private matter, according to recent reports. Sources close to TMZ have confirmed that while the beloved host is doing well, she’s addressing a personal situation that doesn’t directly involve her.
The 42-year-old television personality’s absence isn’t cause for concern, according to those familiar with the situation. While Clarkson is expected to return to the studio on Thursday, it remains unclear whether she’ll appear in that day’s episode, which has already been filmed with guest host Molly Sims, or if she’ll be recording future segments.
Attempts to reach representatives for the show have been unsuccessful, and Clarkson herself has maintained silence regarding her time away. The show’s schedule indicates that Sims will continue hosting through Friday, followed by Kal Penn on Monday. Clarkson is slated to resume her hosting duties on Tuesday and will also lead Thursday and Friday’s episodes next week, with Andy Cohen scheduled to host Wednesday.

The Grammy winner’s absence has been noticeable since February 28, with various celebrities stepping in to maintain the show’s momentum. Actor Simu Liu’s unexpected hosting stint on March 3 raised eyebrows when he shared, “Kelly actually isn’t able to make it today. We are sending her our very best, and here’s the thing: I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived here to promote my new movie, ‘Last Breath.'”
While Clarkson briefly returned for the March 4 and 5 episodes, the timing of these recordings remains uncertain. The show has featured an impressive roster of temporary hosts, including Roy Wood Jr., Wanda Sykes, Josh Groban, Brooke Shields, and Willie Geist, who have all taken turns at the helm during her absence.
The “Because of You” artist, known for maintaining a low profile on social media, hasn’t posted on Instagram since February 17. Her Emmy Award-winning talk show, which she began hosting in 2019, is approaching a significant milestone with its 1,000th episode scheduled for March 20.
