Comer Predicts Impeachment Report

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said last week that he is preparing an impeachment inquiry report regarding President Joe Biden. The Kentucky Republican said that the evidence shows that Biden has committed crimes.

Comer said in a weekend Fox News interview that “it’s no secret Joe Biden’s committed many crimes, and I think that you’re going to see a report very soon. That report is imminent.”

Comer also said that there could be criminal referrals for Biden’s son Hunter and brother James over overseas business deals. The two members of Biden’s family reportedly accepted millions from foreign companies, including from China, Russia, Ukraine, China, Romania and Kazakhstan.

“That will probably be an interim report that updates everyone on the crimes that Biden and his administration have committed throughout this investigation and through the years of the Obama-Biden administration,” he said.

Comer said that anything referred by Republican congressional investigators would be within the current statute of limitations.

“So, if Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice doesn’t take this up in an appropriate manner, then the next administration and a new attorney general certainly can,” Comer said.

The Kentucky Republican did not indicate whether Biden himself could face criminal charges. However, he said that there would be “accountability for Joe Biden,” calling it the “next step.”

Biden denies any wrongdoing and said that he was not involved in his family’s business deals.

Comer added that issuing a subpoena for Biden would be difficult. However, he said that the efforts “in all of our depositions and interviews has been very substantive and is going to be very useful in accountability.”

Separately, Hunter Biden is facing federal firearms charges. He will also go on trial for alleged tax evasion later this summer.

It is unclear whether or no Republicans in Congress could get a majority in Congress to convict Biden. However, with Democrats in control of the Senate, it would be nearly impossible for Biden to be convicted and removed from office.
