According to White House sources, President Joe Biden is experiencing regret over his decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, believing he could have emerged victorious against Donald Trump despite unfavorable polling data, The Guardian reports.

The Guardian also revealed Biden’s dissatisfaction with his choice of Merrick Garland as Attorney General, specifically citing Garland’s perceived sluggish approach to prosecuting Trump for the January 6 insurrection while simultaneously pursuing aggressive legal action against Hunter Biden.

Biden’s unexpected withdrawal from the 2024 race in July came after significant pressure from former President Barack Obama. The situation intensified with Obama allegedly orchestrating media leaks that undermined Biden’s position, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi applied additional pressure.

“Nancy made clear that they could do this the easy way or the hard way,” said one Democrat familiar with private conversations who was granted anonymity to speak candidly. “She gave them three weeks of the easy way. It was about to be the hard way.”

The aftermath of damaging leaks ultimately led to Biden’s withdrawal announcement. Subsequently, Kamala Harris, despite not winning any primaries, secured the Democratic nomination through the support of party elites who facilitated her ascension to the ticket.

Health concerns also played a significant role in Biden’s decision. His brother, Frank Biden, provided insight into the situation during a CBS News interview, making statements that suggested serious health considerations. “I’m incredibly proud of my brother. Selfishly I will have him back to enjoy whatever time we have left,” Frank Biden told CBS News.

However, the Biden family quickly distanced themselves from Frank’s comments. A source close to the family informed CBS News that “Frank Biden suffers from alcoholism and hasn’t spoken to his brother in weeks. What he said…is completely untrue.”
