Young Senator Vance Set To Lead MAGA Future
Listen To Story Above
Viewed as the future torchbearer of the MAGA movement, JD Vance is positioning himself to become America’s first millennial vice president. The 40-year-old former venture capitalist and “Hillbilly Elegy” author has experienced a remarkable political transformation over the past eight years.
Unlike previous vice presidents who were assigned specific portfolios, Vance’s role appears more fluid. Those close to him indicate he’s prepared to adapt to whatever the Trump administration requires, while maintaining strong ties to Capitol Hill from his senatorial tenure.
“I would say JD’s the guy that will plug any hole or be as beneficial to the administration and be as beneficial to President Trump as possible,” said Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, a friend and ally.
This guy will be unstoppable after being under Trump’s wing for 4 years
I really didn’t think we would have a chance to win for a very long time after Trump cycles out

Despite initial skepticism surrounding his selection, Vance quickly proved his worth through a strong vice presidential debate performance and his willingness to engage with media outlets across the political spectrum. His aggressive defense of Trump’s policies and positions earned him particular praise from the president-elect.
“He is a feisty guy, isn’t he?” Trump said during his victory speech the night of the election, describing how he had instructed Vance to “go into the enemy camp.” While some Republicans might have resisted going on CNN or speaking with The New York Times, Trump said, Vance “really looks forward to it, and then he just goes in and absolutely obliterates them.”
This dynamic stands in stark contrast to Trump’s relationship with his previous vice president, Mike Pence, which ended in a bitter split following January 6, 2021. While Pence was chosen largely to appease evangelical Christians, Vance shares Trump’s ideological positions on key issues like trade and foreign policy.
Vance has cultivated strong relationships within Trump’s inner circle, including Donald Trump Jr. and incoming chief of staff Susie Wiles. His connections extend to influential tech figures like Elon Musk and Peter Thiel, his former employer.
Senior Trump adviser Jason Miller emphasized Vance’s significance, calling him “the future of the Republican Party and this movement that President Trump has started.”

Despite his elevated position, Vance maintains a relatable public image. His supporters emphasize his working-class background and everyday interests. Terry Schilling, president of American Principles Project, describes him as “a guy’s guy” who enjoys sports and casual socializing while maintaining professional dedication.
Recently, Vance playfully addressed his inauguration day dilemma on social media, noting that it conflicts with Ohio State’s national championship game. While he joked about skipping the ceremony for the game, he’ll be attending to his vice presidential duties – though likely checking scores during the Liberty Ball.
Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., who recently worked with Vance on hurricane relief efforts, suggests his youth brings advantages to the role, including a natural comfort with modern communication methods and a distinctive boldness in approach.
As Vance prepares to make history as the youngest vice president in recent memory and the first with young children in nearly two decades, he faces the delicate task of maintaining Trump’s trust while potentially positioning himself for future leadership of the MAGA movement.
