Trump SLAMS Justice Department In $100 MILLION Lawsuit
Former President Donald Trump is reportedly taking legal action against President Joe Biden’s (D) Justice Department over the unprecedented August 8, 2022, raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
According to the report, the former president plans to sue the Justice Department for $100 million in damages. The report came from a memo obtained by Fox News, which claims “tortious conduct by the United States against President Trump.”
The raid was part of a federal investigation into allegations that Trump improperly retained classified documents.
President Trump has officially put the DOJ on notice and gave them 180 Days to respond.

Following the raid, Special Counsel Jack Smith was appointed to investigate further. Smith eventually brought 37 felony charges against Trump, including willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and making false statements. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges, according to Fox News.
In July, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case against Trump, ruling that Smith’s appointment and funding violated the Constitution’s Appointment Clause. Smith is currently appealing the dismissal.

When the raid occurred, Trump responded by stating, “These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar- A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents. Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before.”
Trump also claimed that the FBI conducted a “deep and ugly search” of his son Barron Trump’s room, and it was reported that his wife, Melania Trump, bought a new wardrobe after agents “contaminated” her clothing during the search, according to Breitbart News.
Regarding the legal action against the Justice Department, Trump’s attorney, Daniel Epstein, said, “What President Trump is doing here is not just standing up for himself – he is standing up for all Americans who believe in the rule of law and believe that you should hold the government accountable when it wrongs you.”
A survey conducted by I&I/TIPP Polls in September 2022 found that the raid on Trump’s home did not negatively impact his potential 2024 presidential bid among Republicans, according to Breitbart News.
Trump is now competing against Vice President Kamala Harris (D) in the upcoming November election for the White House.
