Trump Says Harris WON’T Debate!

Former President Donald Trump expressed to Breitbart News his belief that his general election opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, will avoid participating in any genuine interviews during the campaign, opting instead for what he described as “a soft Democrat interview” with someone like ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.

During an hourlong interview at his Mar-a-Lago resort, Trump was asked to respond to Harris’s statement that she would schedule an interview by the end of August. Trump predicted that Harris would only agree to sit down with someone who would ask easy questions rather than someone who would challenge her on key issues.

Trump likened this to outgoing Democrat President Joe Biden’s decision to go to Stephanopoulos—whom Trump refers to as “Slapadopoulos”—for an easy interview after a debate. Trump pointed out that before Stephanopoulos joined ABC, he served as a top adviser to former President Bill Clinton, a Democrat.

“She’ll go to a soft Democrat interview like Biden did — he went to Slapadopoulos,” Trump said. “That was the softest interview. I saw him go after Byron Donalds, who’s fantastic. It was vicious the way he went after him. Byron handled it like a fly on your back, just shoved him aside — Byron is very good. Did you see that interview? The viciousness and the way he handled Biden — it was like he was trying to answer the questions for him.”

Since becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee for president following Biden’s withdrawal from the race, Harris has not participated in any interviews. She has also agreed to only one debate, which will be hosted by ABC News. In contrast, Trump has committed to participating in that debate, as well as two others—one on Fox News and another on NBC News.

However, Trump expressed his skepticism to Breitbart News that Harris genuinely intends to participate in even a single debate.

“She doesn’t want to do one debate, either,” the former president said.
