Trump Expands National Lead Over Biden

Former President Donald Trump expanded his lead over President Joe Biden in a recent national poll, amid a series of surveys that showed good news for the former president. In addition, Trump has publicly stated that he believes that the current criminal cases against him are helping, rather than hurting, his campaign.

The latest CNN poll showed Trump receiving 49% of the vote compared to Biden’s 43%. The result is the largest lead for Trump over the president in the network’s history. Furthermore, the former president’s lead expands when including third-party candidates.

When pollsters asked about multiple other candidates, Trump’s 6% lead in the head-to-head matchup expanded to 9%. In this scenario, Trump received 42% to Biden’s 33%.

In third place is independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who received 16%. Next is activist and college professor Cornel West with 4%. Green Party candidate Jill Stein picked up 3% of the vote.

Trump currently leads Biden by 1% in the RealClearPolitics polling average. The former president leads in four of the last eight major national polls. Two of the polls are tied and two of the polls show Biden with a small lead.

Furthermore, the former president also received good news from a series of statewide polls. A recent CBS News/YouGov poll showed Trump leading in both Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Trump led in other swing state polls, including a recent Wall Street Journal survey that had him ahead in six of seven swing states. These states are likely to play a major role in the November election and could decide the winner.

The polling result came as the New York criminal trial against Trump finished its second week. The trial centers around allegations stemming from an alleged brief relationship between Trump and former adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

The former president denies any wrongdoing and alleged that the trial was orchestrated by the Biden administration.

Following the first day of the trial earlier this month the former president received more than $1 million in donations.
