Trump Draws Closer In New York Poll

Former President Donald Trump moved closer to President Joe Biden in New York, according to a recent poll. The result would be one of the best results for a recent Republican nominee as New York hasn’t been won by the GOP in more than 30 years.

According to the most recent Emerson College Polling/The Hill/PIX11 poll Trump moved within single digits against Biden. In a head-to-head question, Biden received 48% to Trump’s 41%.

The result may be a shock to Democrats in the state. Biden won the state by 23% in 2020. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton won by a similar margin four years earlier.

This is not the first negative polling result in New York for Biden. A recent Siena College poll found that Biden was only leading Trump by 9% last month.

The poll found Biden holding 47% of the vote, while Trump would receive 38%. Biden has lost considerable support in New York City since the last election, according to the poll.

Trump held a rally in New York City last week where he received a warm welcome from supporters. The rally in the Bronx is in an area that traditionally votes for Democrats.

The former rally told supporters that he would make a serious play to win the Empire State.

He further held a rally in New Jersey, where he was joined by cheering supporters. The Trump campaign estimated that up to 100,000 people came out to support him.

During the New Jersey rally, the former president predicted that he would win in New Jersey. He also said that he has a strong chance to win a number of states that traditionally back Democrats.

Trump made similar comments speaking to the Minnesota Republican Party’s Lincoln-Reagan Dinner.

Trump further extended his outreach into New York during his criminal trial in the city. Following court sessions, the former president was met by cheering supporters and brought pizza to members of the FDNY.
