Trump Criticizes Biden Over Israel Attack

Former President Donald Trump said that the weekend attack by Iran on Israel would not have happened if he were still president. The comments came amid increasing criticism against the Biden administration for its response to the current crisis.

“ISRAEL IS UNDER ATTACK! This should never have been allowed to happen – This would NEVER have happened if I were President!” Trump wrote on social media.

At a rally in Pennsylvania, the former president reiterated his initial statement.

“Before going any further, I want to say God bless the people of Israel. They’re under attack right now. That’s because we show great weakness,” Trump said.

“The weakness that we’ve shown is unbelievable, and it would not have happened if we were in office. You know that. They know that, and everybody knows that,” said the former president.

“This is an attack that wouldn’t have happened. I mean to think about, to think about what you have to go through,” he said. “Ukraine would have never happened. Israel [being] attacked both October 7th and today would have never happened.”

A number of other Republican politicians indicated their support for Israel while also criticizing the Biden administration. President Joe Biden had previously warned against a strike against the last Hamas stronghold of Rafah.

Israel is weighing its response to the Iranian regime. The country’s cabinet authorized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to retaliate against Iran for the attack.

The attack launched hundreds of missiles and drones at Israeli territory. The raid was the first one launched directly by Iran against Israel itself. Groups tied to Iran have launched a number of attacks on Israel, including the Oct. 7 Hamas attack that killed 1,200 people.

Nearly all of the missiles and drones were intercepted before striking the ground. Part of the defense came from Israel itself but was also joined by the United States, Britain and Jordan in destroying the projectiles.

At least one of the missiles or drones reportedly hit a site in Jordan, killing several people.
