Trump Calls RFK A Democratic ‘Plant’

Former President Donald Trump said this week that independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy was a “plant” of the Democratic Party intended to split the vote. Trump made the comment after a recent poll showed that Kennedy, also known by his initials RFK, could be taking support from his side.

Trump wrote on social media that Kennedy was “put in place in order to help Crooked Joe Biden, the Worst President in the History of the United States, get Re-Elected.”

The former president said that a vote for Kennedy would “essentially be a WASTED PROTEST VOTE” that ultimately could “swing either way” but could also hurt Democrats “if Republicans knew the true story about him.

Trump framed Kennedy as a left-wing activist, which the candidate was before entering the Democratic Party presidential primary last year. Trump cited RFK’s Second Amendment stance and called him “an Extreme Environmentalist who makes the Green New Scammers look Conservative.”

The former president also called him a “Big Time Taxer and Open Border Advocate and Anti-Military/Vet” candidate.

The former president also wrote that Kennedy was wrong about vaccines. The former president also accused Kennedy of pushing for extreme environmental measures in New York under the tenure of former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D).

The former president’s statement came after weeks of attacks on the RFK campaign. Following earlier polls showing that Kennedy took some support away from Biden, there was media speculation that he was in the race to help Trump.

There was also speculation regarding whether or not Trump would choose Kennedy as his running mate. However, both sides tamped down expectations of such a potential pairing.

The former president’s comments came after the release of an NBC News poll last week in which Trump led President Joe Biden in a head-to-head poll but fell behind when Kennedy was included. The poll showed Trump ahead of Biden 46%-44% in the two-way matchup.

When Kennedy was involved, Biden received 39% of the vote, Trump got 37% while Kennedy was in third with 13%.
