MTG: Republicans Don’t Worship Trump

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said this week that Democrats were unfairly targeting Republicans following the conviction of former President Donald Trump last week. She said that many Republicans are accused of worshipping the former president, which she denied.

Greene told reporters that Democrats accused Republicans of worshipping Trump as a “convicted felon.”

Greene’s comments about the former president came as she also attracted attention for her statement during the testimony of the former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony Fauci. Greene called Fauci “Mister,” sparking criticism from Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD).

Following Greene’s comments, Raskin said that instead of supporting Fauci, many Republicans support Trump. Raskin called the former president a “convicted felon.”

“We don’t worship President Trump,” Greene said during the hearing.

“Everything I said is correct. It’s how the American people feel. It’s what we know to be a fact…all the evidence has been proven true. We have Jamie Raskin in there accusing us of worshipping Trump — worshipping a ‘convicted felon,’” Greene said after the hearing.

After a reporter said that Trump was a convicted felon following the New York verdict last week, Greene said that George Floyd was, adding that “everybody, and you all, too, the media, worshipped George Floyd.”

“Democrats worshipped George Floyd. There were riots burning down the fucking country over George Floyd, and Raskin is in there saying we worship him,” she said about Trump.

“Excuse me, let me correct you — and this is really important — I don’t worship — I worship God. God. And Jesus is my Savior,” said Greene.

She further reiterated that she didn’t worship Trump and was tired of “antics” from Democrats.

“I’m tired of Democrat antics claiming Republicans worship Donald Trump,” Greene wrote on social media. “I worship God!”

“Democrats are still worshiping Convicted Felon George Floyd,” she wrote.

Greene’s comments about the former president came as she also attracted attention for her statement during the testimony of the former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony Fauci.
