ISRAEL BOMBS CANCER HOSPITAL – “Hamas Was Below”?

Israel bombs Gaza hospital while crying “Hamas hideout,” taking out cancer treatments for entire region in the name of “self-defense.”

At a Glance

  • Israeli airstrikes killed over 103 people in Gaza in a single night, with 54 dead in Khan Younis including a journalist and 11 family members
  • European Hospital Khan Younis, Gaza’s only cancer treatment facility, is now out of service after being hit by 9 Israeli missiles
  • Israel claims the hospital was targeted due to a Hamas command center beneath it – the same excuse they’ve used for bombing 36 hospitals so far

  • Human Rights Watch has suggested Israel’s actions approach “extermination” and urges intervention under the Genocide Convention

The Convenient “Hamas Command Center” Excuse Strikes Again

So here we go again, folks. Israel’s military has found yet another “Hamas command center” that just happens to be located beneath a critical hospital. How convenient! European Hospital Khan Younis, the only facility providing cancer treatments in Gaza, is now out of commission after being struck by nine Israeli missiles. This attack killed at least 16 people and wounded 70 others. But don’t worry, the IDF assures us this was absolutely necessary to stop those terrorists who somehow always choose to hide under sick children and cancer patients.

Watch coverage here.

The airstrikes in Khan Younis marked the second consecutive night of heavy bombing, coinciding with President Trump’s Middle East visit. Though our former president didn’t stop in Israel, Netanyahu clearly wanted to send a message with these bombings. When rescue workers rushed to help victims of the initial hospital strike, Israel reportedly fired a second round of missiles at the rescue operation. Nothing says “most moral army in the world” quite like the double-tap method of killing first responders, am I right?

The Hospital Targeting Pattern Is No Accident

Let’s be clear about what’s happening here. Since this conflict began after Hamas’ October 7th attack, Israel has bombed and burned at least 36 hospitals in Gaza. Thirty-six! The Geneva Conventions explicitly prohibit attacking hospitals, but apparently Netanyahu’s government believes international law is just a pesky suggestion. The European Hospital wasn’t even the only medical facility hit this week. Israel also admitted to attacking the Nasser Medical Complex, killing journalist Hassan Eslaih, whom they conveniently labeled a Hamas fighter without evidence.

The European Hospital served as Gaza’s only facility for specialized treatments including cancer care and cardiac surgeries. With its destruction, thousands of patients have nowhere to turn. Doctors Without Borders reported this was the second time in just seven weeks that the Nasser Hospital had been targeted, significantly hampering their lifesaving operations. But who needs doctors when you’ve got precision-guided freedom bombs, right?

The Human Cost of Netanyahu’s “Total Victory”

Netanyahu has vowed to escalate the war to destroy Hamas completely, even stating Israel will not halt operations if a deal is reached to release captives. This 19-month conflict has already killed nearly 53,000 Palestinians, with many being women and children. Meanwhile, Israel maintains a suffocating blockade that has now lasted three months, effectively creating what Human Rights Watch describes as conditions approaching “extermination.” I’m old enough to remember when deliberately creating conditions that led to mass civilian deaths was called a war crime.

The humanitarian situation couldn’t be more dire. An astounding 90% of Gaza’s population has been displaced, and all aid has been halted. Nearly half a million Palestinians face potential starvation, with a million more struggling to access food. The Civil Defence agency in Gaza continues recovering victims, though some bodies remain unrecovered due to the intensity of the bombardment. But hey, at least they’re getting rid of those pesky Hamas fighters hiding in cancer wards, right?

International Response: Too Little, Too Late

French President Emmanuel Macron has criticized Netanyahu’s policy in Gaza, suggesting European nations consider sanctions. That’ll show ’em! Nothing puts the fear of God into a country like a strongly worded letter and the threat of possibly considering sanctions at some indefinite point in the future. Human Rights Watch has called for action under the Genocide Convention, while also urging Hamas to release hostages, because apparently there’s always a need for “balance” when reporting on a conflict where one side has F-35s and nuclear weapons and the other is trapped in an open-air prison.

Of course, Israel vehemently denies accusations of genocide. They’re just coincidentally creating conditions where an entire population can’t access food, water, or medical care while bombing their hospitals. Pure coincidence! The Associated Press reported 10 airstrikes in Khan Younis alone, with the death toll climbing as rescue operations continue. But remember, this is all just Israel “defending itself” by destroying the only cancer treatment center for millions of people.
