Farage Returns To British Politics

British political leader Nigel Farage announced this week that he would return to active British politics after his retirement. Farage made the comments ahead of Britain’s July 4 general election, in which the Conservative Party is likely to lose its parliamentary majority.

Farage said that he would lead the Reform UK Party in seeking a term in Parliament. He promised to “make Britain great again.” He previously led the U.K. Independence Party (UKIP) prior to the 2016 Brexit referendum.

So I’m back. I’m standing as a candidate in this election. I’ve taken the leadership over of Reform U.K.,” he said.

“You know why? I see our country going down the drain. I believe in Britain. These boring idiots that lead the Labour and Conservative parties are not worth the space,” said Farage.

Farage has enjoyed a warm relationship with former President Donald Trump.

The candidate interviewed Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in March.

The British Conservative Party has had a majority in Parliament for more than a decade. However, it has gone through a series of prime ministers in that time.

Former Prime Minister David Cameron agreed to hold a public vote on the topic of leaving the European Union. Farage was the most visible leader of the Brexit movement.

Despite the fact that the “Leave” side was opposed by most of the leaders of major parties in Parliament, the vote passed in 2016. The decision allowed the United Kingdom more leeway in a number of issues, including trade and migration.

The current leadership of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is expected to lose its parliamentary majority to the Labour Party. The socialist Labour Party has not held power in the country since 2010.

While Farage’s party will not receive a parliamentary majority, it is likely that Farage’s return to active politics will have a significant impact on the country’s parliament. It is also likely to push the Conservative Party to the right on issues such as legal and illegal immigration.
