Dem Senator: I Am Not ‘Woke’

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) took another step away from activists within his own party when he declared that he was not “woke.” The senator’s comments came after he broke with a number of other traditional Democratic Party positions, including on Israel and the wider conflict in the Middle East.

The senator took a stance against the wave of squatting facing a number of Democratic Party-dominated states, including New York.

The senator said in a recent interview that “Squatters have no rights. How can you even pretend that this is anything other than you’re just breaking the law?”

“I am not woke,” he added.

Fetterman said that it was “wild” that individuals can move into someone’s house without permission while someone else is on vacation “and suddenly they have rights.”

“This is crazy. Like if somebody stole your car, and then they held it for 30 days, then somehow you now have some rights?” he asked.

New York has seen a number of cases where someone leaves their house on a trip and someone else has moved in. In another example, there were examples of someone inheriting a house and being unable to use it because a squatter moved into their house instead.

In one case, squatters moved into a house, causing significant issues before burning it down.

The senator also called for stricter crime enforcement, stating that those with lengthy criminal history should be “held accountable.”

Fetterman also called upon Democrats to support Israel during its current war against Hamas. He said that if some politicians wanted to criticize the country, such as Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), they had to be responsible.

He disagreed with Schumer’s calls for elections to replace Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which Fetterman described as a call for “regime change.”

“I didn’t agree because Israel is a democracy, it is our key special ally. And our nation wouldn’t appreciate any kind of foreign input. So why should we do that for Israel?” he said.
