Scott Calls Biden ‘Threat To Democracy’

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) sharply criticized President Joe Biden this week and shook off media speculation against former President Donald Trump. The news comes as Scott is reportedly one of the top potential picks for vice president.

Scott said during a weekend interview that he believes that many of the participants at the Jan. 6, 2021 protest at the Capitol should be freed.

“Some of those have been in pretrial incarcerated for longer than the sentence attached to that crime,” he said.

“The greatest threat to democracy today is Joe Biden,”said Scott.

“It started back when he became president. We saw a botched Afghanistan withdrawal where 13 Americans lost their lives. We’ve seen a wide-open, insecure, unsafe southern border with sleeper cells likely in our country, over 100,000 Chinese nationals crossing our southern border, men from Yemen, Iraq and Afghanistan now populating our country,” he added.

The potential candidate said that ten million illegal immigrants have entered into the country since Biden took office in 2021.

Scott said several days ago that the vice president’s role would be to follow Trump.

“It’s not the who,” he said. “It’s the what.” Scott said that any decisions by the vice president should reinforce the president’s lead. He said that the priority would be to close the Southern border. He cited the stronger asylum provisions enacted while Trump was president.

During a congressional outreach meeting with the former president, Trump said that Scott could be his vice presidential pick.

Scott’s comments came amid speculation that the senator may not be the president’s first pick.

Trump is considering a number of other prominent Republicans for the position. This includes others in the Senate, including Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH). In the House, Trump is reportedly weighing Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL).

Recently, it has been speculated that North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) has gained significantly in the vice presidential consideration. Trump has reportedly said that he wants to find someone who looks the part.
