Biden Approval Declines To Near-Low

President Joe Biden is facing historically low approval ratings amid concerns over the state of the American economy and ongoing conflict overseas. The news could spell bad news for the president’s reelection effort as a number of recent polls placed former President Donald Trump in the lead.

According to Gallup, the president’s approval rating stands at just 38%. Furthermore a large majority of the public, 59%, disapproves of Biden’s job performance.

In addition, Biden struggled even with groups that may be traditional allies. Only 82% of Democrats approve of his time in office. Among independents, just 32% approve of Biden’s tenure while 72% disapprove.

Furthermore, among voters 18-34, who tend to vote for the Democratic Party, Biden received only a 30% approval rating. Another 64% disapprove of his job performance. Among non-White voters. 40% approve of Biden’s economic approach, with 58% disagreeing.

The 38% is near his previous low of 37%. In addition, the most recent rating is below January’s mark of 41%.

Biden is struggling with a number of specific policies. Only 28% of Americans approve of Biden’s immigration policy, while two-thirds disapprove. Another 62% disapprove of the president’s handling of the current Mideast conflict, while just 30% approve. In overall foreign affairs, Biden’s performance is marked positively by 33%, while 62% disapprove.

Perhaps most dangerous for Biden in November is the fact that just 36% of the public approve of his economic policies, while 61% disapprove. Among independents, 66% disapprove of Biden’s performance on the economy.

On the issue of Ukraine, 40% agree with the president, while 53% disapprove.

Trump has opened a nearly 2% lead over Biden in an average of national polls.

This includes a recent Morning Consult poll that placed Trump up by 4%. In a recent Rasmussen Reports survey, Trump is leading the president by 6%. Another I&I/TIPP poll from January into February had Trump ahead by 5%.

Among eleven recent polls, Trump is leading in nine of them.

Furthermore, Biden has struggled in a number of statewide polls, including a number of swing states he would need to return to the White House in November.
